Privacy Policy — WakeNav

WakeNav is a marine navigation aid published by Twiga. This policy explains what data the app processes, for what purpose, and how it is protected. We limit collection to what is strictly necessary for the app to work.

1. Data we process

• Account: email address when you create an account (email/password authentication, or via "Sign in with Apple" / "Sign in with Google").
• GPS location: used in real time to show your position on the map, follow a route and record your tracks. Your location is never shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
• Your content: boats, routes, waypoints and tracks you create, stored on your account so they sync across your devices.
• Preferences: units, language, theme.

WakeNav shows no advertising and uses no advertising tracker.

2. Purposes

• Authenticate you and secure your account.
• Display your position, marine charts, weather and navigation information.
• Save and sync your routes, boats and tracks.
• Where applicable, send you notifications related to weather or official warnings.

3. Third-party services

To provide certain features, technical data (for example the geographic coordinates of the area being viewed) may be sent to the following services:

• Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, functions, notifications) — data hosted in the European Union.
• Windy — wind, gust and wave data.
• Météo-France — weather warnings and alerts.
• OpenStreetMap / OpenSeaMap — marine cartography and information about seamarks and buoys.

Requests to these weather and mapping services transmit geographic coordinates but not your identity.

4. Data location and retention

Account data and your content are hosted on Google Firebase infrastructure in the European Union. Your data is kept for as long as your account is active.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your data. You can delete your account from within the app (Settings › Account); this removes the associated data. For any request, contact us at the address below.

6. Security

Communications are encrypted (HTTPS) and access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account.

7. Children

WakeNav is not intended for children and does not knowingly collect data about them.

WakeNav is a navigation aid and does not replace official nautical charts or approved onboard instruments. The skipper remains solely responsible for the safety of the vessel and its crew.
